Leave a Gift in your Will for the Gatehouse during Remember a Charity Week

Each year the campaigning organisation Remember a Charity run a national event called, not surprisingly, Remember a Charity Week, and this year it runs from the 9^th to 15^th September. This campaign highlights how you can leave a Gift in your Will to charity, and the growing importance of this fundraising stream in helping all charities, big or small, to achieve long term financial stability.

Remember a Charity have even come up with a new word to describe the act of leaving money to charities in your Will, which is ‘Willanthropy’. In other words a combination of Wills and Philanthropy. You can listen to Susie Dent, the lexicographer and star of Countdown, explaining the concept of Willanthropy in a recent interview on BBC Radio Oxford.

As a member of Remember a Charity we’re embracing the opportunity to focus on this topic, and to ask ‘Will you Remember the Gatehouse in your Will?’

There are three good reasons why more and more people are choosing to leave a Gift to charity in their Will:

• Unlike normal donations there will be no impact on your current finances, which can be particularly important at times when paying your bills is a priority and there is little spare cash to give to charities.
• You can choose as big or as small a sum as you like, either as a lump sum or as a percentage of the value of your estate.
• It is a very simple process, especially if you are adding a Gift to a Will that you already have in place.
