Uncomfortable Oxford are an academic-led organisation dedicated to raising awareness about the ‘uncomfortable’ aspects of Oxford’s history. Through unique walking tours they generate discussions about racial inequality, gender and class discrimination, and legacies of empire. On Sunday March 26th at 3pm they are running a ‘Follow the money’ tour in support of the Gatehouse and inviting participants to make a donation to us. You can find out more, book a place on this walk and add a donation to the Gatehouse on the Uncomfortable Oxford website. Uncomfortable Oxford is also committed to highlighting underrepresented histories of black and minority ethnic, women, and LGBTQIA+ communities. In addition to tours, the organisation develops educational tools, including lesson plans, podcasts, lectures, research articles, workshops, and self-guided tours. It organises free public events in an effort to bridge gaps between universities and local communities. All profits generated by Uncomfortable Oxford Ltd.’s activities are redeployed into outreach activities and partnerships which uphold its social mission.
